Controller Description
Our prototype uses photoresistors, 1 button and a hypersonic range sensor to simulate inputs for the game temple run. All of the movement inputs are controlled using a figure of the runner on top of the controller. The player will hover over each of the directional inputs for left, right, and slide to activate them, while lifting the figure up in the center slightly to jump. The last input is a button that allows the player to start/restart the game. The controller is designed to be highly themed and a challenging experience for the player.
We will be adjusting the following in the next and final iteration:
- Adjusting the threshold for jump input to get it to feel good
- Adding a hole for the power cord since it looks messy as of now
- Add a spot for the breadboard to sit tightly inside
- Add a larger button on the side to replace the current button
We believe that these changes along with the artistic direction that will be shown in the final, this prototype is a good representation of the vision that we have for this controller.
