Scaffolding: Concept Review

 Super Mario - https://supermarioplay.com

The first game I thought of for a custom controller was Super Mario. While the normal controls for the game are very simple and easy, I wanted to work with this game because I thought it could be cool to make a controller for. The given controls for the game are actually really good to begin with, but I felt that having something within the game, such as the mystery box, could be an interesting controller. One gesture from within the game that I thought could be interesting for a controller that uses the mystery box as the physically held controller is how Mario has to hit the bottom of it to get whatever is inside (at least in the version of the game that I found that’s the only way). A button could be added to the bottom of the box which the player needs to hit/push into order to jump. Do the designs make sense for the basic controls of the game? Does one standout as being more interesting?

Tetris - https://www.freetetris.org/game.php

The second game I chose is that of Tetris. With the specific version of the game that I chose, I found the controls to be a little awkward and a little far apart, which is why I want to design a controller for it. A custom controller would allow for controls to be closer together and easier to press without forgetting which buttons do what. One of the blocks, or Tetrominos, within Tetris has a T shape, which I felt could make for an interesting controller/housing for the CPE. Do the designs make sense for the basic controls of the game? Does one standout as being more interesting?
