BLOXORZ
Bloxorz is a classic browser game from the site coolmathgames.com. Like many gamers of my generation one of my first introductions to video games was playing browser games on coolmathgames.com in elementary school. I loved logic based browser games, and of all the games on that site my all time favorite was Bloxorz. In Bloxorz you're tasked with getting a rectangular prism into a hole located on the other side of a grid, which is suspended in a void. You control the prism by flopping it over in each cardinal direction. As a result of flipping the prism it goes from taking up two grid spots to one, which effects how the player must navigate through the grid. Spatial reasoning is the main skill exercised in this game, and visualizing the movement of the prism is important to be able to succeed. This is what inspired me to develop an alterative controller for this game. The unique movement system and gameplay design seem fitting for a more non-traditional control scheme.

POTROPICA
Poptropica is another classic browser game from my early childhood. Poptropica introduced me to the adventure game genre, and was my first exposure to mutliplayer social interaction (though in a very limited and child safe fashion). One of the aspects of Poptropica that was most unique to me was the movement system, in which the player drags their mouse from the center of the screen to control movement direction, and left-clicks to control locomotion.

I was always impressed with how many gameplay opportunities the player could explore with a control scheme that was basically a slightly modified point-and-click system, and I feel like this system has potential for various forms of expression.
