For our games, we are deciding between Undertale and Normal
Fishing. Both games have a similar number of controls required and are fun 2D
pixel games with a dark theme.
Undertale is a simple roleplaying game that we are sure most
of you are familiar with. The game features a diverse cast of odd characters
who can have a wide variety of responses to the player. As you play, you have
the option to show them kindness or cruelty and the game will adapt to your
choices. As most of the game’s complexity comes from the story, the controls
are fairly simple and consist of arrow keys for directions and two selection
buttons for various UIs.
Normal Fishing is a small game that fits the general genre
of Undertale. It is a simple fishing simulator that continuously hints at a
sinister darkness throughout the story. The game similarly features directional
keys and two primary extra inputs to accomplish the various tasks such as walking,
interacting, navigating menus, and catching fish.
Most of the controllers have been designed to mimic items in
each of the games. The empty gun, tough glove, burnt pan, torn notebook, and
ballet shoes are all from Undertale. The fish, fishing rod, boat, and dial
phone are from Normal Fishing. These controllers can supply the player with a
bit of fun as they feel more immersed in their gameplay, especially if they
have found some of these items.
The pain controller isn’t specifically linked to either game
or honestly doesn’t add to the experience, but we believe that certain characters
within the games would approve (looking at you Sans).
