Final Team 13
Run 3
Core mechanics of the game are that the player can move left, right, and jump, and they are tasked with progressing through a series of levels that automatically play one after another while navigating gaps in the terrain.
I believe the mechanics could benefit from an alternate controller because the number of inputs is small, making it easily mappable to something that offers a much more immersive and engaging experience. Additionally, the game starts quite easy and Non punishing, so the player would have time to get accustomed to the new controls.
Among the presented designs for run 3 what would feel the most intuitive?

The controls for this game are very simple, you can strafe in 4 directions and fire your main gun. The complexity comes from choosing upgrades and avoiding damage. Simple but with a high skill ceiling. Having a more unique controller will likely make the game more difficult but more fun and rewarding, whether it's using a flight stick or a tilt controller there is a certain level of immersion and satisfaction that comes from it. This initially was a last second choice after struggling to stay within the assignment guidelines from our initial choice but i think using a motion controller or a joystick in a non-traditional way could be very interesting and would be fun to work on.
Would motion controls feel too floaty for this type of game? The necessary movement is precise and I'm not sure if a more tactile solution would be more comfortable
Many of my ideas use the physical ship as part of the controller, aesthetically how would you go about using the ship vs some other item in the game as a controller?
