Scaffolding: Concept Review (Game Controller.)

Controller Concepts for Friday Night Funkin*

    (Or other WASD control-based games).

I really enjoy the game Friday Night Funkin', and given it's input similarity to games like Dance Dance Revolution and Beat Mania (Up, Down, Left, Right or WASD), I think an unusual/alternative controller would fit perfectly. My main motivation for this is that rythm games can be much more enjoyable when not confined to basic controller layouts. movements-based input and sometimes vocal input can be really fun additions to games like this. My first concept would use two potentiometers, allowing for directional inputs as the user turns both potentiometers either clockwise or counter clockwise. My second concept is similar to a microphone controller, however this type of microphone only measures pitch and the pitch is mapped to the arrow LEDs. This would match the way the characters "sing" and be easy to use as there is no motion involved. This is convenient given that game's default songs use sounds rather than actual words or lyrics. The third concept uses motion sensor inputs that can be arranged in accordance to the user's preference and helps to prevent other sensors from picking up unintended motion inputs. LEDs are incorporated in all of the controllers to give input feedback to the users.
