Scaffolding: Concept for Seen Game

Seen is a small and simple game, the hopeful adventure of a lonely and sad kid through a grey world. My motivation for wanting to work with this game is because of its meaning to me, though simple it carries with it a compelling subtextual narrative that is inlaid with motivational expressions to the player. Due to these, it has become near and dear to my heart as a special diamond in the rough. Despite its great music and set to compliment the story and message, it delivers to players, my one point of contention did lay in the controls for the game. Using a mouse and keyboard for much of the playthrough led to feelings of stiffness or detachment from the game. I believe a more intuitive controller or one that fits more with the theme of many of the puzzles in the game may be more pleasing to play and become immersed in the game with. This game uses WSAD for moving as well as Space to jump, E to interact, and Shift to cover ears, thus should be a fairly easy way to map to a new set of controls. I believe a deeper immersion of the game can make it seem more like a motivational message to players and less of a typical "game." Two of my ideas lay in the game's artifacts of collectible blue-colored spheres known as "Determination" and "Hope."
