Chess Game Controller

The game I would like to work with is a game that is centuries old and is just now seeing its online boom. That game is chess. The reason I would like to work with chess is because it is a game that I had played often as a little kid but once I stopped attending a chess club I no longer had anyone to play with until recently when the online chess boom happened and I was able to rekindle my love for the game once again. The only problem with online chess in my eyes is that it is not as immersive as playing over the board is and that is why I believe it can truly benefit from an alternate controller.
