Game Controller Concept - Vecter

I’ve decided to make a controller for a game called Vecter. It is a free, solo-dev, runner-shooter arcade style game with a simple premise: drive forward, and don’t run into obstacles. For context, there are only 6 main inputs for the game: Strafe L/R, accelerate, brake, boost, and shoot. The obstacles are procedurally generated, but a specific seed can be played over and over for mastery. My intentions with this project is to preserve the simple arcade-like nature and to create a more immersive experience.

The base inputs each have their own keys and thus are very binary. I can't change that. However, I want to try and create a steering device that incorporates movement to make the binary controls feel more natural and analog. My first idea, the Gyro Band, would essentially allow the player to control the ship by mimicking the ship's movement options with their hand. The other 2 ideas involved putting the player in the driver seat of this cyber hovercraft (the game has a first person mode as well). The second idea specifically is inspired by steering/throttle mechanisms seen in sci-fi universes: sparrows from Destiny and the speeder bikes from Star Wars. I was less focused on creating matching the visual design in sketches but aimed to clearly represent a finalized prototype of the devices.
