Etch-E-Sketch Super Mario

Etch-E-Sketch is a controller built out of a old fashion toy known as an Etch-E-Sketch that uses the knobs on the left and right of the controller to move and position the player while tilting the controller forward will make the player jump. The game this was paired with is Super Mario due to the nostalgic themes of the controller for people growing up on this old school game a equally old school video game seemed the perfect fit to go along with the design. By twisting the left knob the player will move indefinitely to the left while the opposite is true for the right knob. Moving the controller on the x axis will cause the player to jump while moving on the y will allow the player to shoot a fireball.

Do you think the thematic tone of using a old school game for a old school video game controller works? Would you think incorporating a different type of inputs would work better for the controller as a whole?
