Scaffolding: Progress Review

Scaffolding: Progress Review

The game I chose for this project is the original Sonic the Hedgehog. For the controller design I decided to go with a ring. At first, I was going to go with a remote similar to the Mario kart steering wheel for the Wii but, I think for sonic specifically the ring would be a better fit. Design wise, it’s a little tough to come up with the location for the “buttons” but I decided to focus primarily on using the accelerometer for left to right movement, the audio sensor to yell “jump” and the light sensor to crouch. I didn’t think having a button to pause would be that important because the purpose of the project is to make a controller that can “play” the game.

To play the game,

Libraries:

Adafruit_CircuitPlayground Bluefruit

Math

Setup:

Find: accelerometer starting position.

Find: starting sound level

Find: starting status for light sensor

Loop:

If tilted along X axis move left or right

If light is covered crouch

If sound level is higher than threshold jump

What inputs would you use for the crouch mechanic other than the light sensor?

Would the controller still feel like a ring even if the hole is filled, as long as the ring itself stands out?
