Fear and Anxiety

My project conveys fear and anxiety. I found this topic interesting; emotions are persuasive topic to be used with art because art is a place or maybe space where a person could easily represent feelings through it, for me at least!

The sculpture is an environment where I can express and aim all sorts of things. I chose to demonstrate fear and anxiety since they are carrying the same negative feelings, yet they have a different concept. Fear is mostly about being panic of something that is going to happen or is happening. On the other hand, anxiety is a long term worry -unconsciously- like being unpleasant of a situation; anxiety is a form of mental disorder. My little sculpture represents both of those feelings; the head rotates from 9 different angles to show the sense of fear by constantly checking (moving) around. It starts from 90° moving to 70°, 110°, 50° and 130°, 20°, 170°, 0°, and ends at 180°. The exposed brain was added to represent anxiety, the unconscious fear that lives inside the human brain. I was planning to use the 3-6 motor to spin the brain separately from the servo to convey the difference between the appearing fear and the hidden anxiety. For the usage of this project, I decided to go simple and expose the brain to the sight to emphasize the idea of the unconscious fear (anxiety) too.
